Yesterday,
after being told that Abbey Wood Village was a dump I went to take a look. While
it is not far from home it is not a place I usually need to visit.
Exactly eight years ago Bexley Council made
a big song and dance about cleaning Wilton Road with their idiotically named
Lightning McLean street cleaning wagon. It looked like they had not been back
with it since so I dropped into one of the shops where I used to know the
manager quite well. He confirmed that so far as he knew, the road had not been
properly cleaned since.
The Greenwich side of the road, while not perfect, was not too bad. I didn’t
see any anti-social behaviour.
Simple but effective
I
assumed that the No Parking Notices installed to deter Elizabeth line commuters who
abuse residents’ spaces were a bluff because the cost of inspection would outweigh the revenue but maybe I was wrong. Yesterday an
unwanted visitor was given a ticket.
An inexpensive enforcement method would be to authorise one of the residents to monitor the spaces.
Bexley Council, through incompetence or vindictiveness, hides or omits many of its
parking signs but some rules are obvious; why do people still park on the pavement?
Go Ape hypocrisy
I
became curious about the Go Ape protesters; what is happening with their
Judicial Review etc. I looked around for information.
Apart from some references to the Planning meting last June all that Google
presented was their Facebook page, Just the Admins’s Notice. Will I be excused ?for finding it funny?
I found nothing relating to their Judicial Review.
By the way, I did not attempt to join the Go Ape Gaggle
Group but since then I have
been forcibly joined to the Eltham SE9 group, The Pylon Appreciation Society and
British Birds Lovers. I didn’t ask to join any of them.
