On 1st July electricity and gas prices were raised by 13%. Andy Burnham has said that the 5% VAT would be removed from electricity bills for six months next October and claims that will make us better off. The forecast is that the price cap will rise by more than that in October, Electricity is more than double the price it was when Labour was elected in 2024. The 5% cut is unfunded. A new money tree?
