14 October (Part 2) - Children first
Councillor Craske chairing the Children’s Services and Education Scrutiny
Committee always strikes me as an odd choice for reasons I shall keep to myself.
Or it may be it merely backs my opinion that
the May election would “decimate
the talent pool”. How else do you explain David Leaf’s choice of Cabinet?
Tuesday’s meeting began with Cabinet Member Caroline Newton (Education) being allowed to
introduce an item of late business. Bexley missing out on an OFSTED ‘Good’
rating for SEND children by one point has been overturned following improvement
plan submissions to the DfE by Bexley Council. They no longer officially ‘Need Improvement’.
The parent of a child attending an Erith Family Hub addressed the Committee to
express her appreciation of the Hubs and her son “absolutely loves it”.
There was a further report on the Safeguarding Partnership and it was pronounced
“effective and very strong and incredible”.
