27 August - Nothing much

New Road, SE2
New Road at 1 p.m. New Road at 3.15 p.m.The New Road disruptions continue while five bus stops are bypassed. At 1 p.m. yesterday Riney was digging up the bottom end where buses braking for the junction had torn up the surface.

Two hours later it was repaired and the contractors had gone home leaving the footpath to be resurfaced tomorrow. If we are lucky. This could very easily have been a two day job rather than three.

I hope they don’t forget the white lining but it is Conway that normally does that.

GJ06 OEB GJ06 OEBThe AW1 CPZ solved the commuter parking problem at the Abbey Wood end of Lower Belvedere but someone has found a way around it and obstructs the exit from Carrill Way every day. These photos were taken on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

A lady parks up at 07:45 every morning and walks very briskly to Abbey Wood station. The car is left causing minor traffic disruption all day. There is no Blue Badge and it doesn’t get a ticket.

I think there is only one explanation. Someone must have purchased a permit for cheap parking possibly using a fake address, though it is possible that an extremely lazy person living at the far end of Elstree Gardens thinks it is worthwhile halving the walk to the station; but I doubt it.

The parking spot chosen is literally the closest one can get to Abbey Wood station while being within AW1 CPZ.

Maybe Bexley Council will check the keeper’s address and the permit address and discover what might be going on. If this sort of thing proliferates we might be heading back to square one.

Country Style
Overflowing bins Overflowing binsThe first of these photos was taken on 4th August and the second a couple of days ago. Nothing had changed in three weeks except that someone must have tried to squash things down a bit.

It is the same today too.

Country Style has not bothered to empty the bin for more than a month.
