The unusual site banners are to bring attention to the fact that Labour activists in Bexley are manipulating Facebook Groups with fictional posters. They deny it, threaten police action for ‘harassing’ a fictitious character and then demonstrate their willingness to impersonate by creating a false Administrator account in my name. The banner on display is chosen randomly from a selection of three, with a fourth bearing the familiar Bexley Council is Bonkers logo.
28 May - Bexley has a new Mayor
There
is no time for a full Mayor making report but next Sunday or Monday is too long a wait without a report of some sort.
I was told on May 10th that Lisa Moore (Longlands, Conservative) was to be the
new Mayor with Frazer Brooks (Blackfen & Lamorbey, Conservative) her Deputy so I
am not sure why we have to go through the fake theatrics of an election on a hot and sticky Wednesday night.
Both are probably good choices and may be an indicator of of how Bexley Council
is determined to get away from the dark era of the Baroness. Not just my view
but a reflection of the optimism expressed by a number of Councillors, not just my usual contacts.
The Reform UK contingent was consigned to the back benches recently occupied by
the Independents, but there is no easy alternative to that.
They wisely in my view made no contribution to the meeting and abstained from
the false Mayoral voting ritual, as did the Labour members.
There are quite often jocular but embarrassing revelations about new Mayors made by those
formally proposing their appointment. I will have to check the webcast carefully
but I only heard that Lisa was born in South Africa to which my response would be “so what?”
Maybe a careful review of Frazer Brooks’ comments will come up with something more juicy.
I saw a fair number of Reform UK supporters in the audience but not
the most
infamous of the Labour activists. Are they still trying to fool you on Facebook?
