26 July - Of Brickbats and Bouquets

Yesterday was quite a good one for email feedback. “Please don’t ever think about shutting down” followed by one from occasional correspondent David who I suspect is a carbon copy of myself. Similar age I would guess and similar opinion on life in modern Britain.

He too gets his news from a multitude of independent channels on YouTube rather than the established broadcasters and speaks highly of Mike Graham, late of Talk TV. I am subscribed to his channel but rarely have time to look, It is not often I can spare an hour on a YouTube video.

During Covid I used to watch a live stream from Manchester which went out every Saturday and showed what went on it that fair city. Piccadilly Gardens, the city’s centre, was renamed Crackadilly Gardens because it was full of drug addicts and work shy alcoholics making it a No Go Area for normal people. From the River to the Sea was the constant background theme.

Because the videographer was not committing an offence, although he did have to physically defend himself quite often, there was little the authorities could do about him. Nevertheless a Court was persuaded to put a restraining order on him. He is not allowed into Manchester for two years and we all know who the Mayor and Crime Commissioner was.

David laments the loss of local news papers, The Mercury, The Chronicle and Linda Piper in the News Shopper which no longer covers political issues. He is grateful for Bonkers keeping him informed.

But what I wanted to say to you was that you are now supplying what those papers used to do. Keeping us informed of what our local councils are doing or planning to. In essence keeping them answerable. I wanted to thank you for this. I'm sure many will echo that but you might never get the praise or thanks that you deserve.

That is exactly why I do keep Bonkers going. As I said the other day, we must not allow Bexley Council to operate as a Secret Society oppressing the population whenever it can.

David goes on about the oppressions revealed on YouTube. The compulsory addition of Folic Acid to bread and other wheat based products and the Covid lockdowns. Jonathan Van-Tam has now got himself a plum job with vaccine manufacturer Moderna.

I have long regarded the Covid vaccine as a form of Russian Roulette and refused every invitation since April 2021. A friend from back in my Hampshire days was quite the reverse. He has taken every booster shot offered and for a long time refused to meet anyone not wearing a mask.

Sadly one of the clot shots gave him a big one about a year ago. He is now in hospital on end of life care, Quite a bit younger than I am.

Oh; and the brickbat? Apparently alluding to the Hitler-like tendencies of a Facebook Administrator when they boast and laugh about censorship is “shocking”. Oh, dear. It was the Facebook post that demonstrated the writer’s mindset, Bonkers simply drew attention to it.

Note: Linda Piper was the News Shopper’s tenacious political reported who died soon after retirement, never to be replaced.
