23 July - OV67 ZTP and other annoyances

OV67 ZTPAnother day, another bit of idiotic parking,

Any reader who has followed this blog especially closely will know that I live at the end of a cul-de-sac and the layout is a bit unusual in that there is no house at the end to effectively block it from the outside world. There is a clear view towards Abbey Wood station.

I have not had commuters park on my drive since the AW1 CPZ was introduced last September, they now park behind the nearby flats. Slightly annoying but nothing to do with me.

However my front garden is too attractive to some of them; cutting through it would save about three minutes on the walk to the station.

They have already tried smashing down my fence to get to the station - and again about a month ago - and the latest trick is to entirely remove a fence panel by sliding it out of the groove in the concrete posts. That requires some effort and these idiots must know it will likely be repaired again so the operation will probably waste more time than it can ever save.

I’ve seen who invades my garden but apparently diversity is our strength.

Rather stupidly the panels in my back garden are secured to prevent that happening but it was never done in the front.

So that has been today’s job. Repair the thing and screw it down. There are six panels to be done so that will be the excuse for no blogs in coming days.

Actually there will be a Council meeting report at the weekend but after that the cupboard will be bare.

I used to attend almost every Council meeting until Covid struck when I had to get used to webcasts. They are OK but one doesn’t get to know people that way. An anonymous reader has asked that I not only report on Transport Users’ which is not webcast but also General Purposes who hide themselves away. So for a while at least I will try to keep one reader happy by going to GP.

Meanwhile a Councillor has suggested that Bonkers packs up for the Summer recess. It was just a friendly suggestion without any sort of secondary motive but my guess is if Bonkers went off air for two months it would permanently lose the few readers it has.
