5 November (Part 2) - Bexley Council lagging again

Bexley Council is fond of telling us of things that it does well compared to other Councils, recycling being the obvious one but it may also have more world class parks than most although it has occasionally added totally spurious examples like the Happiness Index where in fact it wasn’t even in the top half of London Councils and in nowhere land countrywide.

Tesla M3The Government recently offered Councils more money for electric car charging points which is another area where Bexley Council has proved to be a laggard and a failure. Local authorities have been placed in four categories of success and Bexley is second to bottom because it only has eight charging points per 100,000 of population.

By contrast Dartford has 15, Lewisham 19, Bromley 22, Newham 24 and Greenwich 61. (Government figures.)

But it could be worse, Harrow has 6 and Havering only 4.

Note: Transport Minister Grant Shapps recently bought a Tesla Model 3 (see image) and was an instant convert to electric driving; hence green number plates, driving in bus lanes, free parking and higher speed limits hitting the headlines.
