13 November (Part 1) - The price of lying
The following is not the original blog but an announcement placed here in September 2024
as part of the long term project to progressively restore old blogs.
In 2016 a Bexley Councillor was successfully sued by an employee and a business
partner for a serious libel. Extracts from the Court documents were published
here as is legally permissible and checked over by both libel and media lawyers.
Bonkers was charged by Kent Police for its entirely legal and totally accurate
reports but quite rightly the Crown Prosecution Service dropped proceedings as
soon as they heard of them. However the Councillor continued to pursue legal
attacks on Bonkers and eventually met with a degree of success when it was ruled
that publishing verbatim one of the Councillors own sworn legal statements which was
untruthful made Bonkers guilty of spreading the same misinformation.
The High Court judgment against the Bexley Councillor is presumably still held by
the Court but the extracts are no longer available here because it is simply not worth the
aggravation that results, not to mention the huge legal costs involved in the defence.
The unexpurgated blogs were removed on 2nd June 2019 but archived copies remain available to legitimate enquirers.
